EZ Work Permit for Foreign Students, Overseas Chinese Students and Ethnic Chinese Students
Relevant provisions of the Employment Service Act:
Article 43
Unless otherwise specified in the Act, no foreign worker may engage in work within the Republic of China should his/her employer have not yet obtained a permit via application therefore.
Article 50
With the exception of the winter and summer vacations, the sum of working hours shall not exceed 20 hours per week.
Article 68
Anyone that violates Article 43 shall be fined therefore an amount of at least NT$ 30,000 and at most NT$ 150,000.
Any foreign worker who violates Article 43 shall be immediately ordered to depart from the Republic of China and banned from further engaging in work in the said territory.
Such foreign worker fails to depart as ordered by the competent authority from the Republic of China by the end of the specified period, the entry and exit administrative authority may enforce such departure and may provide therefore provisional shelter prior to deportation.
(EZ Work Permit has been fully adopted since the 2nd semester of the 2017 academic year)
Application process:
1. Please register for an account by signing into the system for the first time.
2. Fill in your personal information, scan or take photos to upload the required documents, complete the payment of review fees, and submit the application to the university for initial review. (It is recommended to follow your application status in EZ Work Permit after your submission)
If the application is returned, please follow the reviewed instruction and make corrections before resubmitting it again. (Go to the Student Application Management - select the application that have been returned for corrections.)
3. The required Documents are:

A photocopy of your valid passport
A photocopy of your valid ARC (Both front and back)
Valid Certificate of Enrollment can be downloaded in the Administration System (教務資訊模組 Academic Affairs Module - 教務資訊系統 Academic Affairs System - 學籍資訊 Enrollment Status - SB0108在學證明列印(Printing Certificate of Enrollment), or E-mail to: classkh@g2.usc.edu.tw (the process will take 2-3 working days)
(1)Please make sure your scanned files or photos of required documents are clear and in a plain background.
(2)The name of the department must be the same as on the student ID or the Certificate of Enrollment.
(3)Please make sure to put the name and phone number of your emergency contact in the student memo column.

Proof of Work Permit Application for Foreign Students, which needs to be updated every semester when you apply for a Work Permit. The file can be downloaded HERE. Please fill it out and send it to the Student Advising Section for approval, then take a photo and upload it to Other Files.)

4. Other instructions:
(1) In order to simplify the process of work permit application, the Ministry of Labor has changed Article 54 of the Regulations on the Permission and Administration of the Employment of Foreign Workers:
The validity of the work permit issued to a type D foreign worker shall be valid for a maximum of one year.
e.g.:
- a.Overseas/foreign students who are enrolled and apply for one-year work permit with a Certificate of Enrollment of the 1st semester of 2024 academic year on November 30th 2024, will obtain a work permit valid until September 30th 2025.
- b.Overseas/foreign students who are enrolled and apply for one-year work permit on July 31st 2025, will obtain a work permit valid until September 30th 2025.
- c.Overseas/foreign students who are enrolled and apply for one-year work permit with a Certificate of Enrollment of the 1st semester of 2024 academic year on November 30th 2024, will obtain a work permit valid until September 30th 2025.
The Ministry of Labor will assign the validity of a work permit by the validity of the applicant's Certificate of Enrollment and ARC.
(2)If you are a senior student, and needs to apply for work permit later than June 30th, please contact classkh@g2.usc.edu.tw for document of deferral of graduation with specified date.
5. A work permit will lose its validity due to suspension, withdrawal, graduating and the termination of lenguage course or training session, one is not to work with such a work permit, otherwise it will violate Article 43 of the Employment Service Act.
6. Starting from January 1, 2020, if an applicant agreed to receive the electronic official document of work permit via EZ Work Permit, the Ministry of Labor will notify the applicant by email to download the electronic official document of work permit from EZ Work Permit within 8 calendar days of the approval. For those who fail to download the electronic official document of work permit on time, the Ministry of Labor will send the work permit in paper form. If an applicant does not agree to receive the electronic official document of work permit, the work permit will be delivered by mail in paper form.
7. Starting from January 2018, the review fee of NTD100 can be transferred through ATM in addition to post office. Applicants can choose to pay by ATM in EZ Work Permit. After completing the application, EZ Work Permit will provide ATM payment information. After payment is done, the Ministry of Labor can proceed with the case review. (Starting from June 1, 2018, paying via post office is no longer available within this campus.)
